 Rating:  - coffee table book/appetizerthis is a beautiful book. almost destined more for the coffee table than for the kitchen library. recipes are there, but there seems to be a very strong emphasis on recipe context. not an exhaustive resource by far - but is very nice to have anyway. Rating:  - Very good foodAfter hearing about this book on The Splendid Table, I bought it for my husband for his birthday about 3 weeks ago and he's already made a bunch of different meals out if it. The recipes include a lot of ingredients but they aren't too complicated. We found an awesome Asian grocer near our house and have become regulars there. I definitely recommend this book if you are interested in authentic Thai cooking. Rating: - the bestThis is the ultimate in learning about Thai cuisine with a fantastic history of the evolution of Thai cooking with home run recipes !!!!! A MUST buy Rating: - Fully authentic, but demandingThis book is not for quick preparation Thai food. I've taken some cooking lessons in Thailand and they teach you to prepare simple, great tasting Thai dishes. This cookbook is not about that type of food. This book is on another level. The recipes often call for several (exotic) ingredients and they are generally somewhat complicated. On top of it, the end result might not really taste Thai to you. If that happens it is because you've had too much Tom Yam soup and Green Coconut Curry. If, and only if, you're seriously interested in Thai food you should give this book a chance. Key weakness; This is a hardcover book but the binding is just awful. After some use it is very loose. Why cannot publishers learn to bind books well? Is it really that costly to do it right?
