In Vegetarian Planet, Didi Emmons takes vibrant flavors from around the world and, using techniques known to any home cook and easy-to-find ingredients, creates 350 dishes at once bold and flavorful, soothing and homey. Not a book of recipes "from" this country or that, it is instead a celebration of the new, globally inspired American pantry. Vegetarians have adventuresome palates. At last, here is a book that lets them incorporate their favorite global flavors into simple everyday meals. For the many nonvegetarians who occasionally eat meatless meals but may be used to thinking of vegetarian dining as a parade of side dishes, Vegetarian Planet offers ten big chapters of substantial and hearty main dishes. ![]() Rating: - My Vegetarian Bible!I absolutely love this book. I use it so much that I had to buy another copy- it is worn out. I have enjoyed everything in it that I have tried and use some recipes over and over again. Most of the recipes are "normal" and sensible. I couldn't live without this book! Rating: - Not just for vegetariansIf variety is your spice to life then this book gives you all kinds of new things to try. Love the simple recipes that incorporate different grains and flours. Most are much healthier than bleached flour. I have made quite a few things and not one has disappointed. Try the wheat berry salad, one of my favorites and the lemon walnut bread dense like a pound cake but yummy! Rating: - One of my FAVORITE cookbooksI oriniginally purchased this book when it was first published in 1997, right before I left for college when I was a vegetarian. I gave this book to a friend in college out of desire to help them cook better vegetarian dishes. Almost ten years after purchasing my original copy, I have found it again and DON'T intend on giving it away ever again. The recipes can be difficult and time consuming, but are well worth the effort. I agree with another reviewer that the page numbers are hard to read, because of the design. Definately worth purchasing for all vegetarians and those carnivores who are adventurous. Rating: - The best vegetarian cookbook!I have 15-20 vegetarian cookbooks and this one is hands-down the best. What sets the recipes in this cookbook apart is the flavor. Each dish has the most amazing flavor! Even the desserts are superb (try the banana cream pie, for example).
