There is one thing that concerns me . . . the handle is plastic, and when I turn the handle, I am concerned that one of these times it will break. Also, I looked for a little larger ice cream maker with these same qualities. Either I did not see it, or it is not available. Rating:  - DonvierThis is the easiest ice cream maker ever! It doesn't make a huge amount, but it is so simple, quick and easy. It is the perfect size for our family. Just pour the ingredients in the frozen bowl, put the lid on, stir it every few minutes and after about 20 minutes, you have frozen homemade ice cream! Rating: - Great first ice cream maker. Often a complaint is that the ice cream is too soft. This can be the fault of the recipe rather than the ice cream maker. Even then, you can still just freeze it for longer afterwards. We have had great results with ours. Rating: - Great ice cream makerI work in the renewable energy field so I love being able to hand crank my ice cream (never mind all the electricity used to freeze the container - I'll solar power that some day). Donvier makes it a breeze to make ice cream and so fun to be able to choose your own flavors. I like handcranking and it only takes 20 minutes or so of pretty much inattentive cranking. I have not experienced problems of overfreezing resulting in a stuck paddle. I think the critical time that it could get stuck is the first few minutes so remember to crank consistently at the beginning. Clean up is easy. I either rinse right away with warm water (risking my skin getting stuck to the tub) or let it warm up and wash. Then I stick the tub back in the freezer for at least overnight. My favorite ice cream so far is Caramel Chocolate Pecan.
