 Rating:  - Great book, blows everything else out of the waterI first began preparing for the LSAT in December 2008 by taking a 6 week course offered by Kaplan for $1299. Upon completing this class, I took the February 2009 LSAT and I did horrible, particularly on the games - I finished the first two, and was stumped on the last two. I'm thoroughly convinced that my poor performance in the games accounted for my 150, so when I began studying once again, I knew that I'd have to target the games section. I bought this book after reading the VERY helpful reviews on this website and others, and after the first chapter, I knew that this book would be the best $64.99 I had ever spent. I was right! This book helped me set up the games in the most clear and concise ways that seemed so much more intuitive and simpler than what Kaplan told me to do. I'm convinced that had I used these methods on the games in February, I would have been able to solve the last two games without a hitch and been totally fine. Now, I'm taking timed tests and ANNIHILATING the games sections - a minimum of 20 questions correct. I'm also getting the questions done a lot faster, and I think that has to do with the way that PowerScore has you diagram the rules. The diagrams are very clear and do not confuse me, whereas the Kaplan methods called for charts and grids that just confused the heck out of me. These clear diagrams help me deduce the correct answers MUCH more quickly and I'm able to fly through the easier questions to spend a little more time on the tougher ones. Overall, great investment. If games isn't your favorite section now, then after completing this book, you'll wish the whole test was nothing but games! Rating: - GREATI purchasead this book because other bloggers said it was better than the Kaplan set...and I have to agree...I originally purchased the Kaplan book and used it a little...this book really IS better and DEFINITLY worth the money. It Introduces all the ideas at a slow pace and gradually scaffold on top of each old idea to introduce the "new" one. With each step, it does not assume you know anything and breaks it down in great detail. then it starts you off slow with a drill to test your ability to SET UP the question, without the pressure of having to deal with the questions just yet...they let you tackle one thing at a time. Then they move onto a full example that actually comes from an actual LSAT. Overall, I really feel as though this is a GREAT book, and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to prepare themselves for the LSAT. Rating: - ExcellentI immediately ordered this book after working through the Kaplan's Logic Games workbook for a bit. I just the Powerscore one today and I can already say that it's a lot better than the Kaplan book. The Kaplan book had many editing errors (primarily mixed up answers), which made it very confusing to someone who is just starting to study for the LSAT. The explanations and strategies were somewhat hard to understand as well. I also feel that it doesn't provide enough practice problems so that you know you entirely grasp the concepts. The Powerscore book, on the other hand, has really clear explanations. I really like that it gives you literally step by step practice on solving the logic games. It's also more detailed than the Kaplan book, and there are notes at the margins, which I thought were really helpful. It gives you small hints here and there on what to look out for while solving the games. I also like that the book is "honest," meaning it pretty much says "If you don't do this, then you won't get the question" and it also encourages you to read each and every explanation for the correct and incorrect answers.
