Before Application Foil package protects Edible Image ® from atmospheric changes. Promptly reseal the original zip-lock bag after you remove an image. If your area experiences high humidity, store unused images in the original bag, in the freezer. If climate is extremely dry, store images in the original bag, in the refrigerator.
Image Application Make sure your hands are clean and dry before handling the image. If cake is frozen, thaw slightly before icing to avoid cracking. Then apply the image. If buttercream has formed a crust, spray with a fine mist of water before applying the design. Do not add extra moisture to non-dairy whipped toppings. Keep finished cakes refrigerated to extend shelf life. Add a generous mist of water over "royal icing" before applying an image. If the image "bubbles" after application, gently tap (do not rub) the image. Feel free to write inscriptions on top of the Edible Image. Just be sure not to push the decorating tip through the image.
After Application If the decorated cake is frozen, thaw slowly, preferably in a refrigerator, to avoid running of colors. Avoid extensive exposure to ultraviolet lighting. As with any food coloring, the image will fade over time.
Edible Image ® Shelf Life Edible Image ® has an approximate shelf life of two years. It must be kept stored in its original bag and resealed after each use. Edible Image is a moisture sensitive product and reacts differently in different climates. In extremely dry or extremely humid conditions you may need to take extra precautions. In most areas, Edible Image works well, stored in its original resealable bag, and kept on the shelf. If you are finding your images cracked and brittle, store them in the refrigerator. If you are having trouble getting the image off of the paper backing, take a single image out of the bag put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes or lay them one at a time on a hot (not heated) surface, (like a pan out of the oven).
